What about alopecia?
Scalp micropigmentation is often used to hide the symptoms of alopecia areata (patchy hair loss), traction alopecia (caused by prolonged pulling of the hair in tight hairstyles) and even alopecia totalis (total loss of all head hair).
Alopecia is common in women, but in female clients can also be symptomised by diffuse thinning, or generalised hair loss across most or all of the scalp.
All of these alopecia types in women can be camouflaged using scalp micropigmentation, although the exact approach is tailored to the needs of each client.
what causes hair loss in women?
Thinning hair in our female patients is rarely genetic, instead brought on by external factors like trauma or stress, or by hormonal changes.
Hair loss is often caused by major changes in the body, for example after childbirth or during menopause. Some drugs such as those used during chemotherapy are known to cause hair loss. The effects can last just a few weeks or months, but in some cases can last a lifetime.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
The basic premise of scalp micropigmentation for women is to reduce the contrast between the hair and the scalp. This is achieved through the depositing of tiny pigment ‘dots’ into the affected area, to create the illusion of fullness and density. Assuming the client is a suitable candidate for this kind of treatment, SMP is discreet, highly effective and permanent.
